FINANCIAL AID
General University
Financial Aid & Scholarships, 50 Strong Hall, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas 66045, administers a large program of scholarships, loans, and part-time employment to benefit K.U. students. In recent years, about $29 million in various forms of aid have been processed annually through the office, including about $2 million annually in short-term loans. For information on resources, prospective students should write to or visit the Office of Student Financial Aid. Some financial aid programs have application deadlines as early as February 1. The earlier the application is received and the student's file is completed, the better the chance of obtaining a scholarship.
School of Pharmacy
The School of Pharmacy, in cooperation with the Office of Student Financial Aid, has a minimal amount of financial assistance available. Applications are received in the dean's office according to an announced schedule each year. Awarding of assistance is based on merit and need. Assistance is available for entering students as well as for continuing students.
Procedure for applying for Financial Aid from the School of Pharmacy.
- Step 1. You must be admitted to the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy to be eligible for any financial assistance available through the School of Pharmacy. Eligibility also requires that students must achieve and maintain a 2.5 GPA and be enrolled as a full time student each semester.
- Step 2. You may want to print the application form, fill it out by hand, and then key in your information on the web-based form. You may not partially fill out the application, the entire form must be completed before submitting. After submitting your application electronically you will be allowed to print a copy for your records. If you find errors in your application after it has been submitted please contact via email or phone, Diane Massey 785-864-3593, immediately.
- Step 3. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) packet must be on file at the University of Kansas Financial Award Office to be eligible for assistance. DO NOT SEND the packet of material to the School of Pharmacy. Send the FAFSA packet directly to the address listed on the packet. In place of the FAFSA, International students must fill out an International Student Needs Analysis Worksheet found on the University of Kansas Financial Aid & Scholarships website.
- Step 4. The application deadline is April 10, 2012 for current students and May 15, 2012 for newly admitted students.
- Step 5. All forms must be initialed by the applicant.
Note the following
- Awards are made for the full academic year, one-half of the award will be applied to the Fall semester fees and the other half applied to the Spring.
- The School of Pharmacy releases the names of financial aid recipients to various news media.
- If you receive a scholarship or financial aid from a scholarship fund endowed by a benefactor, you will be required to send a thank you letter to that benefactor, and furnish a copy of the letter to the Dean's office.
