Welcome to the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy
The University of Kansas is an international research university, devoted to teaching, research, and service. We like to say that KU works for Kansas and the world. The KU School of Pharmacy has been working for Kansas and the world since 1885. Our school was the first professional school at the University of Kansas and the third public school of pharmacy west of the Mississippi River.
From its beginning, The KU School of Pharmacy has been a leader in professional and graduate education. The School’s prestigious history is characterized by notable scholars, exceptional teachers and high-achieving students. We continue to build on those traditions today, even as we evolve to meet the changing needs of society and the profession of pharmacy.
In 2010, we moved into a new, 110,000-square-foot facility on the Lawrence campus. I invite you to take a tour online or drop by for a visit. In the fall of 2011, we will welcome our first School of Pharmacy class to the Wichita campus. Students from the two campuses will share lab time, attend lectures together, and collaborate on projects, all through the use of our video-conferencing technology.
Our mission at the School of Pharmacy is to provide exceptional opportunities for professional, graduate, and postgraduate students, as well as professional continuing education for pharmacists. We accomplish that through exemplary instruction in the classroom, hands-on research in the labs, and mentorship in our clinical training program.
It’s this synergy between our research programs and clinical training makes the Pharmacy program at KU unique and a recognized leader among our peer Schools of Pharmacy. We are extremely proud of the School’s long history of success and national and international recognition, and of our role as the sole provider of Pharmacy graduates to serve the health care needs of the State of Kansas.
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you on campus.
